Stretching for nearly 170 km, it runs between the foothills of the Vosges and the Alsatian plain. It crosses rolling landscapes dotted with medieval villages, family-run cellars and renowned estates, offering an authentic and convivial experience.

You will pass through picturesque villages, renowned vineyards and prestigious wine estates.

During your journey, you will discover Alsace and its authentic villages, famous for their half-timbered houses, their vineyards and their preserved heritage, where every lane tells a story.

Here, in our view, are the must-sees of the Wine Route:

Obernai is a small town located at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile. It is one of the major stops on the Wine Route. An elegant town with its belfry and its lively market square, it is also the ideal starting point to visit the sanctuary of Mont Sainte-Odile, a great spiritual landmark of Alsace, set at an altitude of 753 m.

In the heart of Alsatian wine country, Colmar offers privileged access to the region's most emblematic villages. These villages are home to some of the greatest Alsatian estates, in postcard-perfect settings. But Colmar itself is a town well worth seeing. Birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the Statue of Liberty, Colmar is an extraordinary city of art, history and heritage, inviting visitors to stroll and romance with its canals and the district nicknamed “La Petite Venise” (Little Venice).

Along your way, we recommend stopping in a few villages:

• Bergheim: a village encircled by ramparts, classified among the most beautiful villages of France and voted “French People's Favourite Village” in 2022.
• Ribeauvillé: located at the foot of the Vosges mountains, it combines nature, heritage and gastronomy. It is the ideal starting point for the “Three Castles Hike”.
• Riquewihr: a fortified town surrounded by ramparts, famous for its main street lined with medieval houses.
• Kaysersberg: a medieval village crossed by a river and overlooked by a castle. Appreciated for its heritage and its warm, authentic atmosphere.
• Turckheim: combines heritage, Alsatian traditions and the discovery of nature.
• Eguisheim: an emblematic village classified among the most beautiful villages of France. Its circular historic centre, its flower-filled lanes and its colourful facades charm visitors. It too was voted “French People's Favourite Village”, in 2013.

Each stop will also be an opportunity for you to visit a renowned wine estate.

These family estates, set in historic houses, open their doors to visitors to share their Alsatian winemaking expertise and traditions. You can, of course, also take part in one (or several!) tasting(s). Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Muscat are all waiting for you.
